This week the fill-up rapper expressed interest to work with another local rapper Veezo View of zaka fame.

“Known you for years and you aint never asked for sh*t. Always been a dope guy nje. I have been fooling around in the studio lately. I am sure we can hook something up. Halla! Botswana stand up,” Cassper Nyovest replying to Veezo View’s tweet.

Veezo View honestly tweeted that a track with Cassper Nyovest can change his whole life. Veezo View has crossed paths with the doc shebeleza hitmaker. He even featured Gemini Major who was signed under Cassper Nyovest’s Family tree label at the time.

In an interview with Arts & Culture this week Veezo View said he has always wanted an international collabo to boost his brand. He said prior to the twitter interaction with Cassper Nyovest, he had never asked him for a collabo. “Cassper Nyovest is big internationally, he is a Motswana from Mahikeng, he is a motswakolista so this collabo would be relevant,” he said.  Veezo View was quick to highlight that he had known Cassper Nyovest thorugh the same circle of friends in the past. “ I used to live with Tshego and that’s how I got to know him,” he said.

After the tweet Veezo View said Cassper sent him a message and now he (Veezo View) has given himself a week to come up with collabo ideas.  Local Motswakolistas and Hip Hop heads lost love for Casper Nyovest since his “I don’t know Kast’ stunt in 2016. The incident angered a number of Batswana and inspired the first Tlatsa Lebala music festival.

Since then, Cassper Nyovest had expressed interest in hosting his fill up show in Botswana but nothing has come to life yet.  For someone who lost a huge chunk of followers in Botswana since the Kast incident, some music industry observers think that he may be trying to win Batswana’s hearts back by collaborating with a local artist.

Many locals are already impressed with Cassper Nyovest’s interests in working with Veezo View.

“This is Public Relations stunt to win hearts locally so he can safely come and host his Fill Up event in the country,” one of the observers said.  Veezo View however told Arts & Culture that he is not aware of Cassper Nyovest’s fill up interest. “He will release the dates for his next events soon but I don think Botswana is one of them. But if he does it would be dope for us here,” he concluded.

Cassper Nyovest has previously been accused of pulling a similar stunt with Zimbabwean rapper Stunner in 2016 when he collaborated with a Bulawayo based rapper Calvin. This was during the xenophobic attacks in South Africa that resulted in Zimbabweans saying that they will boycott events that will be headlined by South African artists in their country.  In that same period Cassper Nyovest collaborated with Calvin on a track titled Zikhuphani, and this move impressed a number of Zimbabweans. This was followed by a string of music festivals that were headlined by Casper Nyovest in Zimbabwe.

Now it leaves one wondering if Cassper Nyovest is pulling a PR stunt or it is a genuine collaboration with Veezo View since they have known each other for years.

On the other hand Cassper Nyovest’s collaboration with Veezo View will add impetus on the local rapper’s career. The collabo will help him get recognition on the international market since Cassper Nyovest is recognised internationally.

At the moment, Cassper Nyovest has not formally stated when he would host the Fill Up event in Botswana. He normally hosts the event in the last quarter of the year. He previously hosted it in his home country at Moses Mabhida Stadium, FNB Stadium and Coke Cola Dome.
