This weekend, table tennis players will battle it out again in the fourth round of the ‘Road to Finale’ to be held at the Naledi Senior Secondary School.

This year’s series has pulled a lot of surprises with no player managing to own the top spot and BTTA competitions secretary, Kabo Mosarwe anticipates another mouthwatering round over the weekend. “The players have shown a lot of hunger this year after we failed to have a lot of tournaments last year. The competition is very high, we always have a new leader after every tournament. No one has managed to own the top ranking like it has been in the past. This is something that we should be proud of as an association,” he said.

Mosarwe further said they expect a good turnout for this edition since it is an open tournament.

“We have taken our tournaments to all over the country, but we have had a problem with the turnout. We will also have the top 16 on both the male and female sections,” he said.

Current leader in the men’s section, Boago Malobela of Smash Maniacs is once tipped to win the round.  He, however, faces serious threat from BDF club duo of Tshenolo Mooketsi and veteran, Thobo Matlhatsi. The trio has been interexchanging the top spot this season.

In the women’s section, top ranked, Tshepiso Rebatenne will be the favourite, but Olorato Ramagapu, and Oratile Kedisaletse are eyeing an upset. Ramagapu and Kedisaletse are second and third, respectively. This will be the fourth of seven rounds before the finale that will be played on October 1 and 2, 2019.
