Wanderers sign 10 new players in major overhaul

Wanderers will make their top-flight league bow since the club’s inception in the 1970s. The club has confirmed 10 new signings.

Michael James and Lovemore Bogatsu from BDF XI, Gaborone United striker Boipelo Oaitse, left back, Shanganani Ngadla and attacking midfielder, Monametsi Tsapoga (both from Sua Flamingoes) have joined on two year deals.

The club has also signed former Miscellaneous captain, Mponang Mponang, Zimbabwean striker Melvin Moyo from relegated Sankoyo Bush Bucks.

Former Orapa goalkeeper, Kaelo Joseph and Tendai Nyamadzawo from Sua Flamingoes and Joseph Babotha from Maun Terrors have also joined. Khumoetsile Kufigwa and Magazi Magazi are expected to sign as the team makes wholesome changes.

Wanderers have released five players from the team that gained promotion, and are contemplating loaning others to accommodate new signings.

Wanderers are undergoing transformation, in order to meet club licencing requirements. The Palapye club has roped in former Sua Flamingoes general manager, Kitso Maswena.  Maswena said they were working around the clock to ensure all is in place before the league kickoff.

He said concentration was on pre-season preparations, and the club will host four teams during the Mosimanegape Ramohibidu tournament in Pilikwe this weekend.

They face Extension Gunners, Orapa United and Security Systems.

“The players are under intense pre-season training. We have a number of pre-season tournaments lined up. We are working tirelessly to have the team ready when the league resumes,” Maswena said.

He also revealed that Radipotsane has signed a two-year contract.

Radipotsane said he was happy with the new signings and hopes other deals would be tied up before the weekend games.

“I expect that we finalise our squad this weekend and next week we have our full programme underway,” he said. After the tournament in Pilikwe, he said the club would participate in another four-team tournament in Selebi-Phikwe and then Serowe before they head out to Rustenburg to wrap up their preparations.
