Tsheole raises hand to rescue Chiefs

Magosi held a special meeting last Saturday in Mochudi where they agreed to convene an AGM on August 17 where an interim committee will be ushered in.
The interim committee replaces the previous one led by Raymond Tsheko whose term has ended.
Tsheko has since made it clear that he will not be available for any position, even if he was to be asked to serve.
Tsheko said he has done his part and it is time for others to take the baton. His committee faced a long-standing row with the other faction led by Ramocha Tsieng over the running of the club . The two factions have since smoked the peace pipe with Ramocha also ruling himself out of the running for the leadership of the club.
Tsheole, who is a seasoned financial markets expert, told Mmegi Sport yesterday that he had initially ruled himself out of the contention because of his past experiences with the previous committee.
“I have been requested by some supporters including the elders to stand. Initially, I had refused because I did not like what I saw with the previous committee. I did not even get the chance to serve in that committee even though I was roped in as the president,” he said.
Tsheole added that he did not agree with the committee on several issues and he lost interest.
He, however, said since he has been asked several times by supporters to stand, he has agreed to serve if elected into the leadership.
The Botswana Stock Exchange Limited CEO emphasised the need for leadership of organisations to account.
“If you get money from people, you should give them feedback. They should know what you have done with their money. Accountability is very key in every organisation,” he said.
With the club currently in the lower division after years of internal bickering, Chiefs supporters are desperately looking to elect a committee that will take the club back to its glory days.
The elders, who include Kgosi Bana Sekai Linchwe, are said to have played a major role in uniting the warring factions.
Tsheole added that the first thing that should be done is the proper running of the club. He said for some years now, the side had not been properly run.
With not only Chiefs struggling to attract sponsors and investors, Tsheole said proper structures should first be put in place for clubs to be able to attract financial backers.
“It is not like potential sponsors do not want to come on board, they first want to see proper structures in place then everything will fall into place,” he said.
