The old committee’s term had ended after being voted in 2016 during a meeting that was characterised by heavy security following an intense feud between two factions.

However, this time around the meeting was peaceful with most of the candidates unopposed during the elections.

Jagdish Shah who is also the club’s financier has been retained president of the club.

Secretary, Khumo Masonya also retained his position while Bafana Pheto will also continue his role as the club’s spokesperson. Nametsegang Lentswenyane is the treasurer while Edward Obolokile and Rebaone Moshabi joined as additional members.

Addressing the members before the elections, Kgabung said it has been a great era in the past three years. He said a lot had been achieved in as far as professionalism is concerned.

Kgabung said during the 2016 AGM, they were given a mandate to amend the constitution so that it could allow for financial partners to come on board.

They were also requested to find an investor and lease him the club for a period of 15 years while they push to convert the club from a society into a company.

He said the constitution part has been achieved as well as the lease agreement with investor, Shah. He said what has not been achieved thus far is the conversion of the club into a company. Kgabung revealed that they face some legal challenges and the issue is currently being handled by the lawyers. He expressed hope that they will soon achieve their goal into turning the club into a full company.

Furhermore, Kgabung also said commercialising the club has come at a cost because the environment locally is not yet conducive for commercial football.

It is important that the team keep its relationship with the sponsors intact otherwise they will find themselves back in the dusty grounds. He said despite winning the league four times in a row, they should not become complacent or they will risk allowing other teams to catch and topple them.

Meanwhile Rollers played to a 1-1 draw with Namibian side, African Stars in a friendly match played on Saturday.
