Duo In Airborne Medical Emergency Transport Needs

The duo have established an emergency medical transportation company that specialises in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Care and transportation of critically ill people to hospital. This type of business is mostly dominated by the foreign companies.
The business trades under the name E-Med Care and is located at Mariot Complex in Gaborone, Block 6.
When speaking to Business Monitor, one of the co-partners Jabulani Kuswani said that their business provides ambulance services, inter-hospital, airborne medical evacuations and community Para medicine.
He added that some of their services include events medical covers such as providing emergency medical care during football games and corporate activities.
Kuswani said that the business started four months ago and it is already flourishing because the market is not very saturated.
“My business partner Elias Orapeleng contributed financially in the business and I contributed my skills then we became equal shareholders,” he said.
The entrepreneur said that some of the factors that prompted them to start the business include growing fleet on the country’s roads, which ultimately result in the rise in road traffic accidents amongst others.
He added that through their venture they also want to fight non-communicable diseases such as heart attacks and stroke, which are on the rise. Speaking about his professional background, the 34-years-old businessman said that he has been involved in Emergency Medical Services for almost a decade.
He graduated from Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2008 as an advanced life support paramedic. Upon completing his studies he worked for Rescue-One as a flight paramedic and he performed around 1,000 hours of medical flight hours.
Kuswani is also a certified Flight Paramedic and Critical Care Paramedic. He is amongst the first International Trauma Life Support instructors in Botswana.
The 32-year-old has also worked at Bokamoso Private Hospital in the Accident and Emergency wing. He was at one point under the employ of Medical Rescue International (MRI) as senior flight paramedic. He has also worked in Kenya and Ethiopia as Marine Paramedic.
The businessman revealed that their ambitions are to expand to strategic regions such as Francistown, Tsabong, Palapye, and Maun.
“In the near future we also want to start an Ambulance College as well as affiliating with international bodies such as American Heart Association and International Trauma Life Support to boost the status of our business,” he said.
