AP Confident Of Letlhakeng- Lephepe Victory

Over the weekend the party launched its Letlhakeng/Lephepe parliamentary candidate, Phenyo Dinake.
Despite a poor attendance at the event, one of the speakers, AP president, Ndaba Gaolathe’s advisor Margaret Nasha is confident that the constituency is winnable and would lead to the party victory at the polls.
Nasha said they are confident of winning because the AP has been conducting house-to-house campaigns in the constituency and people are reacting positively.
“Many will be surprised when results are released as they think we are just participating in the elections. We are in it to win it and Dinake will be one of those in Parliament as he is the only one who can bring developments to the constituency,” she said.
“Kablay has failed. I was with him in Parliament and I can tell you that to this day he has never stood up and advocated developments for this constituency in Parliament unlike other legislators.”
Nasha called on Dinake to be outspoken and represent his constituents at all times if he won. She also called on all AP candidates to understand Bills read in Parliament and share them with their constituents.
Nasha said most legislators do not consult their constituents before debating Bills in Parliament. She called on all AP ‘incoming MPs’ to always consult with the people so that they could input their feed back in their contributions in Parliament.
In another development, Nasha slammed the current Parliament for bad exchanges in the House.
“Being a legislator means you must be honourable and not just say whatever you want to say. Things that are said in Parliament are distasteful,” said the former speaker of the National Assembly.
“People call insults and call each other thieves. There is no order in that House. I am glad I have never heard of any AP member being part of that and none of you should ever use that language. Stand your point in an honourable manner and let them see the difference.”
On another level, Gaolathe said he was certain that his party will be in power post October.
“I have sleepless nights wondering why we have so many resources as a country but still cannot use them to improve lives of our people. The only answer is because there is leadership vacuum. The people you voted for are not capable and the country will never progress with them. Our workers, elders and students will never be happy under the current government,” he said.
For his part, Dinake lamented that the constituency is one of the most struggling in the country.
“Our people are living in poverty and nothing is improving under the BDP.
Right now Letlhakeng with over 1,000 students does not have proper toilets. Children at the schools are forced to bring water from their homes after 53 years of independence,” he lamented.
Dinake also said the clinic in Letlhakeng does not have medication while the area needs a primary hospital.
However, he proposed that AP has the answers to all the problems in the constituency.
Dinake will battle it out for the constituency with the incumbent Kablay while the UDC has not yet fielded a candidate.
