When speaking at the launch of Phenyo Segokgo at Sefhoke ward on Saturday, different speakers said Tlokweng saw developments under the leadership of incumbent councillor, who is the chairperson of the South East District Council (SDEC).

“Segokgo has done well as the chairperson of South East District Council and he continues to shine even more.

Most internal roads are paved and council is continuing to find funds to pave those that are not done,” said councillor Dichabe Seitshiro. “Council has addressed the issue of water drainage system that had long been pending and issues of floods in the area.

All these things happen because of his leadership. It is not easy to lead council, especially when it does not have enough funds and is nearer to the capital city.”

Gaborone City Council mayor, Kagiso Thutlwe said: “Segokgo’s council has outperformed all other councils in the country.

The residents of this area stood with Segokgo when he was expelled from his previous party, Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) and he took a decision to join Botswana National Front (BNF), which has affiliated to Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC). Today I stand here to plead with you to support him and vote for him in large numbers in the coming elections.” Thutlwe said Segokgo has been cooperative and is working hand in hand with his area Member of Parliament, Masego Segokgo.

The guest speaker at the event, Haskins Nkaigwa, said the reason Segokgo believes in UDC is because its manifesto is clear that it wants to improve the welfare of the people.

“The UDC manifesto is far better than that of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) one because it addresses our day to day problems.

The time is now, for us to vote youth who are capable to lead us. The BDP has failed for the last 50 years to improve our lives,” he said.

Further, Nkaigwa said BDP MPs use their numbers in Parliament to pass bogus laws that favour them.
