Galaxy close in on Makgantai, Mohutsiwa

ABSA Premiership side Baroka FC have released striker, Makgantai after only one year into his contract.

The 24-year-old failed to cement a regular place in coach, Wedson Nyirenda’s side. He scored only two league goals in the 16 appearances for the club. His two goals came against giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Mohutsiwa on the other hand, has been put up for loan transfer by his new South African club, TS Galaxy.  ‘Abidal’ signed for TS Galaxy in January from Township Rollers and was expected to join the club last month.

Due to lack of game time at Rollers, TS Galaxy have made the midfielder available for a loan transfer in this window.

“He (Makgantai) is a quality player and we understand that the player does not have a club at the moment. So we feel he is someone who can add value to the team but there is nothing concrete at the moment,” said Galaxy’s public relations officer, Tankiso Morake.

Galaxy Stars, however, face stern competition from South African First Division side, TS Sporting, who are reportedly chasing the striker’s signature.

Morake further said TS Galaxy have offered Mohutsiwa to the Jwaneng-based side on a season loan deal, but the two parties are yet to conclude the deal.  “TS Galaxy have proposed to pay the player’s full salary during the time he will be here with us. We believe it is a fair deal for all the parties and we have since given our chairperson a go-ahead to seal the deal,” said Morake.

Galaxy have been one of the busiest teams in the market as they roped in Thabang Sesinyi from Cape Umoya United last month. The club has released Vincent Lekorwe, Tshepo Borake and Wilfred Dithwane.

The latter has since joined Notwane while defender Moreetsi ‘Resco’ Mosimanyana is set for a non-playing role at the club after his contract expired last month.  Meanwhile, Orapa United are keen to bolster their goalkeeping department with Mwampule Masule. The goal minder is a free agent after parting ways with Chippa United in South Africa.  He was linked with a return to Rollers while Galaxy were also keen.

The Ostriches have lost two long serving goalkeepers, Mosimanegape Robert and Kaelo Joseph in the last 12 months and are eyeing the 27-year-old to fill the void.
