Pressure Mounts On Ntshinogang

Ntshinogang might not last long in office, owing to ‘trust issues’ with the BPL board, who want him out. A BPL board member said Ntshinogang had brought football into disrepute and it had been agreed that he leaves office.
“Already a decision has been made. He brought the game into disrepute,” the official said.
The farce over the disputed Miscellaneous and Rollers game last season has been cited amongst other reasons why the relationship has gone sour.
Miscellaneous was informed late of the fixture, and decided not to travel to Gaborone for the game. No action was taken against the Serowe side, but the match was re-scheduled, which irked some clubs, including Jwaneng Galaxy.
“Internally, we have voted him out. We expect BFA to recall him in the next few days. He will not take any further action pertaining to the BPL,” the source said.
The league has lost part of the BTC sponsorship, after the figure was trimmed from P13 million to P5 million for the coming season.
This has left a shortfall of P8 million, and the source said Ntshinogang was partly to blame for failing to give the sponsor the expected returns from the deal.
“Members of the BPL board had no access to the contract, so we were in the dark until BTC took their decision,” the source said.
BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti said there was no pending disciplinary action against Ntshinogang.
He said nothing has reached his office, although he acknowledged allegations of the board’s mistrust of Ntshinogang.
Ntshinogang said he was aware that some members of the board have been working hard to push him out.
“There could be various motives since football here is too political, but I have learnt that the reason is the change of fixture that we made during week 23 of the 2018/2019 season. Although I gave valid reasons why that change was necessary, it seems that those who are vocal about that fixture change are not willing to accept the reasoning,” Ntshinogang said.
