Local is Lekker is a local clothing brand that was founded in 2014, but started operations in 2018. Under their brand they have clothes for both men and women including t-shirts, football kits, shoes and many other items.

Co-founder of the business, Robert told Business Monitor that they aim to penetrate the clothing business by leveraging on a variety of products they have unlike their competitors who only focus on specific merchandise.

“We may be a small brand at the moment, but our goal is to become one of the biggest brands in the country,” he said.

According to Robert, they are looking to challenge the likes of All Kasi for supremacy in the clothing industry. He further said they are still making plans to move away from just making clothes and rather seek to penetrate the retail market by having their products in the shops.

“Our clothes are cheaper compared to those already on the market and are savvy so they are up to the times,” he said.

“We want to grow our brand and even have plans to own a brand store in the near future, which will specialise in selling our merchandise.”  The duo expressed gratitude towards their clients noting that they sell at least 100 pieces of merchandise in a month. They are already supplying Crowns Football Club with their kit and Batanani Social Club too.  When asked how they market their products, Babotseng said they are currently using social media due to its wide reach in advertising, which he says has been effective along referrals.

Their brand is also registered with Companies and Intellectual Property Authority. Currently, they have one employee who they trained with the intention to grow their workforce through the expansion of their factory and creating more jobs for the youth.
