Makgantai continues to draw interest from many clubs in neighbouring South Africa and as far as DRC, the team spokesperson Tebatso Hule said.

“We continue to receive offers for Makgantai. He is the most sought-after player in our camp so far,” Hule said.

“He has drawn a lot of interest from South African sides although most of them have not formalised their interest, but have spoken to us. At the moment, we can confirm that we have received formal letters from AS Vita of DRC and Platinum Stars of South Africa,” he said.

He added the player is currently with the team preparing for the new season.  He said the two teams, Platinum Stars and AS Vita, want to buy the player and it is critical that they carefully evaluate the two offers. “We have spoken with a number of clubs who have also shown interest, therefore we are expecting other formal offers. However, at the moment we need to thoroughly look through the two offers on the table.

“Unlike with Baroka, he (Makgantai) won’t be going for trials.  These two sides are interested in buying him outright and we want to make the best decision for the player as well as for Orapa United,” he said.

Makgantai took full advantage of his recent Zebras call-up and made a mark at the COSAFA Cup tournament in Namibia. He was instrumental in helping the Zebras reach the final of the competition and was voted the player of the tournament as well as being adjudged man of the match in the final against South Africa.

The Kinshasa-based AS Vita finished as runners up in the 2015-2016 DRC Super League and were recently disqualified from the CAF champions league after fielding an ineligible player.  Platinum Stars have found Botswana to be a happy hunting ground after luring Mogakolodi Ngele, Kabelo Dambe, Jomo Moatlhaping and Phenyo Mongala in recent seasons.
