“The first show will be at Airport Junction where there will be a truck pulling contest, squats and other challenging workouts. The reason why we are having these events is to promote fitness and (have an) awareness campaign in Botswana and also to let people know that you can take bodybuilding as a career,” one of the organisers, Champion Chiendaramwano.

The Strongest Ironman will walk away with P15,000 while the runner-up gets P10,000 and P5,000 is reserved for number three.

The Strongest Ironman will be in the afternoon and is sponsored by Scania and Airport Junction.

“In the evening, we will have (an) Ironman bodybuilding show at Cresta Lodge. We are going to have two line-ups; for seniors and juniors, and also we will have the Ms Curvaceous category where we expect plus size women to take part, Pick ‘n Pay have sponsored with trophies and medals,” Chiendaramwano said.

The winners in the all-men’s bodybuilding contests (senior and junior) will walk away with P5,000 each, P3,000 for runners-up and P2,000 for third place.

Homecorp has donated a 40” television set and the organisers are yet to decide where to place it as a first prize. Chiendaramwano said they expect a large number of competitors from around Botswana.

In addition, he said all BDF contestants are expected to participate and a number of sponsors who include Duma FM, Tile Africa, Choppies, Cresta Lodge, Elbygare Holdings, Botusafe Investment, Jack’s Gym, RVN builders and Konasty Investments are on board.

Chiendaramwano said another category, the Man’s Physique, would be added depending on the number of entries.
