The sponsorship is expected to be unveiled on Friday. The region will receive P250,000 per season for the next two campaigns.  The league has 12 teams.

From the sponsorship, each team will receive two sets of kits for home and away matches.  Each referee will also get two kits.  The league champions will receive P15,000.

Boteti region chairperson, Phillimon Bunu said the sponsorship will help improve competition amongst clubs.

“We struggled with payment of referees and transporting them to the matches. We still owe them from last season, and the sponsorship couldn’t have come at a better time,” Bunu said.

“I believe we will be attractive to other sponsors as well. This sponsorship will improve the dignity of our teams and hopefully, it will rub off on them and they would be able to knock on business doors for themselves.”

Bunu said the sponsorship would go a long way in ensuring they achieve their long-term target of helping their teams gain promotion to the First Division.

Boteti has been a beneficiary of other sponsorship deals in the past. Last year, the region received P135,000 for its pre-season cup.

Debswana sponsored the cup, dubbed the GM’s Cup, for P100,000 and Kanu Equipment supported with P35,000.  Bunu said Debswana had committed another P100,000 for this season’s tournament, and the regional committee was still pursuing other companies before the cup launch.

BFA president, Mclean Letshwiti, secretary general, Mfolo Mfolo and chairpersons from other regions are expected to grace the launch. The sponsorship is the first of its kind for a division one league.
