The unidentified thieves allegedly broke into the store through the ceiling in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Old Naledi confirmed the incident. MeshackDambuza said “we received the report at around 1030 Saturday morning.”

“The jewellery store in Game City mall, Sheraton Jewellers has been robbed of items, rings amounting to P1,051,185 million,” he said.

Dambuza however said he could not divulge any more information as investigations are still at a fragile stage.

“This is a fresh matter. Investigations are still at an initial stage. We still have not arrested anyone, we do not have any lead yet to share with the public,” said Dambuza, further adding that the police are still not sure how the culprits managed to access the store’s ceiling.

When quizzed how many culprits participated in the robbery, the officer said he did not have any clue on the number as investigations were at an initial stage.

Reached for comment the manager and owner of the store, Mohammed Ibrahim confirmed the incident.

“The Police and the DISS guys came. They are handling the case. I cannot share anything with you now,” said Ibrahim.
