The 5s BW Championships, according to Stanbic Bank Super 5s director, Gareth Mathews, are meant to identify a team that will represent Botswana at the World Cup finals to be held in Cape Town, South Africa in November. The competition underwent rebranding and was launched at Molapo Crossing. The night proceeded in an informative and interactive way with great insights on the importance of amateur football and how it has direct impact on health, economic and social development.

A diverse panel of speakers shared both their experience on football activities and how their respective professions encourage the nation to take part in the 5s BW Championships. The Sefalana group, ever bright and visible, was there as the championship’s main sponsor, handing over P50,000-worth of sponsorship and soccer themed water bottles for the top eight qualifying teams.

Registration is ongoing for the tournaments until September 12, 2019. The registration fee is P2, 000 for a team of seven players. The group stages will be held on September 21, followed by the finals on October 5.
