According to the BPL board chairperson, Seiphetlho Sefhako, the fixtures have been returned to the League management committee appointed recently.

Sefhako said the draft fixtures had some errors, hence the Board agreed that they be returned to the management committee. The Board met on Friday to discuss mainly the draft fixtures, which have to be approved first by the Board before they can be released as the final document.

“Yes, it is true we returned them. There were couple of errors which included two fixtures put on the same date, at the same time and on the same venue.

We expect that by Wednesday this week, the management committee would have sorted out the errors and returned them to us so that by Friday the final ones are out in the public’s hands,” Sefhako said yesterday.

He said owing to the previous problems they encountered, they want to run a smooth league campaign where changes to the fixtures will only be done it is necessary. The BTC Premiership this past season attracted bad publicity after changes to the fixtures towards the end of the season.

Jwaneng Galaxy lodged a protest complaining about the change of fixtures, which saw Miscellaneous failing to honour their game against Township Rollers. Miscellaneous stated their reasons citing late communication as the reason for their non-appearance.

The game was eventually re-fixtured with Rollers winning 1-0. Galaxy however argued that Miscellaneous should have been docked points. The matter was eventually dealt with amicably between Galaxy and Botswana Football Association.

The draft fixtures had pitted Gaborone giants, Township Rollers and Gaborone United (GU) against each other in the first match.
