With just four days to the grand show, Liberty Life hosted a tea party at the Falcon Crest featuring the Top 12 ladies. As it was expected, the place was filled with the tall slim ladies who are aspiring to be crowned the fairest of all ladies in Botswana come Friday. The Top 12 was given a word of encouragement by the winner of Miss Botswana 2006 now motivational speaker, Malebogo Marumoagae. She shared with the ladies amongst them the next Miss Botswana 2016 on her journey during and after winning Miss Botswana all the way to the final stage, at the Miss World.

“It is not easy. But it is a life lesson that no one could ever take away from you,” she said.

“At the Miss World stage you are judged from the moment you step out of the plane. I had no self confidence. I was one of the shortest, but most of all I did not enjoy myself because I was not emotionally stable,” shared the former Miss Botswana.

Liberty Life Botswana Managing Director, Lulu Rasebotsa also encouraged the ladies ahead of the pageant. “For the fact that you have made it this far is an achievement on its own. I can tell you that joining a pageant of this magnitude is not for the faint hearted. It needs a person who is emotionally intact and able to take charge of their own life,” said Rasebotsa.

This year, the ministry of youth, sport and culture (MYSC) decided to spearhead the beauty pageant. This was after recent controversies surrounding the Miss Botswana pageant. This year’s instalment of the Miss Botswana is even more special as the country celebrates its golden jubilee on September 30.
