Moswaane's supporters seek audience with Masisi

The move is a bid to convince the party to temporarily halt taking action against their legislator, Ignatius Moswaane.
When briefing his supporters on Tuesday evening, Moswaane noted that he met the constituency leadership and it resolved that a delegation should be sent to seek temporary reprieve on his behalf from the president.
Moswaane explained that at a meeting held at Leseding hall, “ The general feeling among BDP members in Francistown West was that if there are differences between him and the party leadership, such differences should be dealt with after the general elections. That is the message they are going to deliver to the President.”
He highlighted that the meeting with Masisi was a follow-up to the petition that the constituency leadership submitted to him (Masisi) early this week.
Moswaane added that the delegation that would be selected by members of the constituency would meet the President soon. Furthermore, he noted that the general feeling within the constituency is that any attempt to address his purported differences with the BDP leadership now might work against the party at the 2019 general election.
His launch was halted (as party candidate for the 2019 general election) last weekend because the party said that it is still considering action it should take against him in relation to his statement about the controversial P900 million Masama-Mmamashia water project. He made the utterances during a recent radio interview saying the process of allocating the tender was fraudulent.
Moswaane’s remarks have not been well received by some within the BDP, which explains why the party reportedly wants him to be slapped with suspension from the party.
Once again, during his address on Tuesday Moswaane appeared to be worried that he might be recalled as the party candidate.
“ It is highly possible that I can be suspended just before the elections like it happened with the likes of the late Gomolemo Motswaledi. This would mean that I would not be able to contest the elections under the BDP ticket. However, I do not want to contest the elections as an independent candidate or under the opposition. I want to help the BDP win elections,” Moswaane.
The legislator maintained his original stance that what he said about the Masama project was not wrong.
