The titles would be up for grabs as Rising Stars Championship, organised by Bond Boxing Promotions and Global Boxing Stars, takes place next month.

For the first time in the history of local boxing national titles would be up for grabs. The national super lightweight pits Tshepiso ‘Kurapt’ Mokgadi from Bond Boxing Club against Kutlwano ‘El Chino’ Ogaketse of Drad Boxing Club.

He told Mmegi Sport that getting a chance for a title fight is a big achievement for him.  Mokgadi would be stepping into the ring with getting back on track after a convincing loss to Phillip ‘Mad Cobra’ Musariri in his last match.

“I lost my last bout and my plan is to correct the mistakes I made in the last competition. Look, I would be fighting against someone without international exposure and I intend to use that to my advantage,” he said.  The two boxers are both orthodox and have four wins each. Mokgadi has registered one loss with a single knockout. His opponent has two losses without a knockout.  For his part, Ogaketse said he joined professional boxing in 2017, but it had never crossed his mind that one day he would be a boxer.

“I have been fighting at lightweight for a long time during my amateur boxing era, now I am moving up the weight and fight in the super lightweight. As it stands I am ahead when it comes to experience,” he said.  Ogaketse said he is training hard at the gym and he has never lost to an orthodox before.“I train with orthodox all the time and I have ways of dealing with them. Mokgadi is a tough opponent, but I have put everything in this bout,” he said.

In other bouts, the international super lightweight sees Kgotla ‘Bang Bang’ Baeti of Melroy Promotions fight flamboyant Zimbabwean, Musariri.

Steven ‘Small’ Bagwasi from Drad Boxing Club faces Ndodana Ncube from Zimbabwe in the international super featherweight.   Bond Boxing Club boxer, Thabiso ‘Showstopper’ Mpolokeng takes on Moabi ‘The Eagle’ Ngaka of Drad Boxing Club in the national featherweight division.

The national bantamweight title is up for grabs between Tefo Letshikgwane of Bond Boxing and Onkarabile ‘Scara’ Mothibedi fighting from Top 10.

Gomotsang ‘48’ Gaasite of Dsloca Boxing Club goes face to face with Kagiso ‘Raptile’ Bagwasi of Drad Boxing Club.

The last fight pits between Kefentse ‘Doritos’ Molalapata of Drad Boxing Club against Tshepo ‘Danger’ Khutloeng from Bond Boxing Club.
