Mfolo, who joined the BFA two years ago on secondment from the Ministry of Tertiary Education, has acquitted himself well in a volatile environment that has proved unforgiving to the association’s CEOs.

The BFA has had more than half a dozen CEOs over the last decade, but Mfolo, seen as apolitical in an acidic environment, has survived.

“He has stayed above politics, which is why the president has full faith in him. The talks have not been opened, but he is staying,” said a source close to the developments.

Both Mfolo and Letshwiti recently confirmed that contract talks have not been held, but all points to a fresh tenure for the administrator.

While Mfolo’s future appears secure, there is still a cloud hanging over his Botswana Premier League (BPL) counterpart, Thabo Ntshinogang.

The BPL board is baying for Ntshinogang’s blood, who recently confirmed that certain members want him out, primarily over the ill-fated fixture between Miscellaneous and Township Rollers last season.

With media speculating that Ntshinogang would depart immediately, he has managed to cling on for a few more weeks, but a source said it was only a matter of time.

“They are looking for a replacement, he will not be in office when the league starts,” the source said.

The new season kicks-off next week Saturday. The source said the season’s fixtures had to be referred back to the management committee, after it was felt that they favoured Township Rollers.

However, Ntshinogang denied the allegations, and said there was a re-look of the fixtures due to some teams having a congested midweek programme.

“They didn’t favour any team. We have never done fixtures to favour any team. Our fixtures are done through software and not manually,” said Ntshinogang.
