Chiefs spokesperson, Clifford Mogomotsi said some players’ contracts have expired while others are injured, leaving only six fit to play Rollers in a much-criticised play-off which will determine this season’s league winners.

Meanwhile, Chiefs’ warring factions will sought their differences in court.

The three-year squabble between a group led by Ramocha Tsieng and Kitso Maswena and the club’s current committee led by Ernest Molome and Raymond Tsheko claim to be the rightful owners. Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, Mogomotsi said the current committee was given a mandate to take the other group to court after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held over the weekend.

The two groups were directed by the Registrar of Societies to meet and resolve their differences, but that could not happen. They were further instructed to go to the Arbitration Council, which is yet to be established.

“We were given a mandate to go to court by the gathering on Saturday. We just have to file the minutes of the meeting, after submitting the minutes to the Registrar of Societies. If the situation does not change, then we will take the other group to court,” Mogomosti said.

It was revealed at the meeting that the club’s internal fights started in 2013 when Tsieng’s camp sought after a piece of land given to the club to be developed in to a football ground. Prior to the Saturday meeting, elections were on the cards but Tsieng and his camp did not show up at the meeting but instead sent a letter stating that they will not recognise decisions taken at the meeting.

“The letter entailed what they wished could happen but that does not matter much on our part. Since we cannot sort out our differences we decided that the court would be the only route,” he said.

Mogomotsi also said they will welcome the departed investor, Sayeed Jamali, if he comes on board as a sponsor. “That will be a blessing (if Jamali returns).

We will welcome him, but the ball is in his court now.

He stated he cannot continue under the current circumstances so we will be waiting to hear from him,” Mogomotsi added.

Jamali ended his three-year relationship with the club stating that he was not making returns on the money he injects into the club.
