BDP Mmadinare warring parties reconcile

Members of the central committee met with both parties in the area last week to prevail on them to smoke the peace pipe.
Recently, both parties openly exchanged unpalatable words on social media, a matter members feared if it is not resolved could cost the party in the coming general elections.
It was out in the open that Parliament aspirant, Molebatsi Molebatsi had no good working relationship with his council hopefuls in the constituency.
The central committee members who had gone to reconcile the warring parties included Ngaka Ngaka, Boyce Sebetlela and Simon Moabi.
On August 2, 2019 aspiring councillors wrote a letter to the party office asking for intervention stating that there was no peace amongst themselves as candidates. “It is true there was no peace amongst some of our members. But now there is peace after some central committee members reconciled the fighting parties. Some aspiring councillors felt that Molebatsi was not considering their individual problems that they disclosed to him. This issue caused a rift amongst them that was unnecessary,” said Mmadinare BDP chairperson, Letumile Molodi. “Some were blowing issues out of proportion. The issue was not big as many had thought. The members have forgiven each other. Of course misunderstanding affects campaigns, but we are now campaigning vigorously and we will retain the constituency.”
Molodi said as the branch committee, they will be monitoring the situation closely to ensure that the parties work together and that the problem does not recur.
He explained that in a campaign, the branch committee needs united candidates for them to be able to run a smooth campaign.
“When candidates are divided, it trickles down to members and opponents can also take advantage of the situation. Mmadinare is a stronghold for the BDP, we want it to remain like that,” he said.
