With his thriving engineering business, Magola has defied the odds. Coming from a poor background and at some point being forced to leave school and become a herdboy due to financial problems, he is a living proof that dedication and passion wins against all odds.

Born and bred in Serowe, the 26-year-old Magola has redefined electronic engineering with his high-tech business, Various Perspective (PTY) LTD.

After graduating with a diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2014 at the University of Botswana (UB), Magola never allowed the misery of unemployment that many young graduates face to be his setback by opening his own company, which he registered while still at the University.

“I have always lived by the motto that working under someone else gives them control over you and limit your capabilities, hence why I decided to start my own business,” he said.

Magola ‘s business deals with supplying, installing and servicing electronics such as refrigeration, air conditioning, car air conditioning, industrial laundry equipment, industrial catering equipment, cold and freezer room equipment among others.

His business peaked in 2015 when he became a registered agent of Defy Appliances Company and LG electronics to service their products in furniture stores in Serowe and Palapye. He also has a contract with Botswana Institute for Technology Research & Innovation (BITRI) to maintain and install their air conditions.

With a staff compliment of four, Magola also sub-contracts two other local construction companies, Chizzi Investment Construction Company and Relax Construction Company by installing air conditioning equipment on their projects.

Like any other business, Magola has his fare share of challenges which include lack of office space hindering the production, lack of transport since they are always on the field which means they travel a lot as well as financial constraints. His future aspiration is to build an international recognised brand, to create a mobile refrigerator that uses sunrays for the street vendors as well as to hire more people.

Magola also has a certificate in refrigeration and air conditioning that he obtained at Woo International Institution which offers training in electrical engineering.

Magola’s passion in electrical engineering was driven by an inspiration that he got from a Zambian Kenny Makandzawe of Fast N Smooth PTY LTD whom he used to work for and train under while he was still schooling at the University.
