Kgakgamatso Mastokana Konti, Dancer

The 33-year-old Molepolole performer was undoubtedly the darling of the band. She leaves behind a child now doing standard five. Mastokana has been described as Charma-gal’s long-serving member, having joined her band in 2008 during the Culture Spears era. She has been part of all Charma-gal’s Ekentolo projects, no wonder on the day of her burial, Charma-gal requested that she is sent away with one of the three awards Charmagal won last year, specifically for Best Mosakaso category. Mastokana was more than just a dancer in the band; she had also been part of the distribution and sales team for the Charma-gal brand, according to manager Leshman Matenge.

Phemelo Kazuzu Jakobisi, Instrumentalist

The versatile bass guitarist and keyboardist joined Charma-gal’s band last year, having previously played for the likes of Alfredo Mos, Franco’s, and several local bands. He was laid to rest in his home village of Hukuntsi

Mercy Mafoko, backup singer

She was only 24 at the time of her death. Mercy Mafoko, who was laid to rest in Mankgodi on Sunday, leaves behind a child. She was recruited into the Charma-gal’s band by fellow member, Gorata, who survived the Gantsi road mishap. This would have been her second month in the band.

Onalenna Lembebe Thebeitsile, dancer

The dancer who was laid to rest in Francistown on Sunday, joined the band eight months ago, and made their busy December tour that coincided with Char-gal’s release of her hit solo album, featuring hits such as Hard-rock.

Caprio Dikoko, rapper

A DRC musician, Caprio joined the Charma-gal’s band as a rapper in her rumba-oriented tunes just recently. The Gantsi show, from which the band was returning upon meeting their fate, was actually Caprio’s only second show in the band. The 39-year-old DRC rapper however is to be laid to rest in Mogoditshane this coming weekend, after his siblings in the DR Congo gave the go-ahead to lay him to rest in Botswana. Caprio could not be transported in time to his homeland after it was discovered that he was an illegal immigrant in Botswana.
