Miscellaneous lands P120,000 STRIKR deal

The sponsorship is the second highest in the club's history and will run for two years. It will cover the home, away and alternative playing and training kits and leisure wear as well the technical team apparel.

Speaking at the launch, Miscellaneous vice chairman, Moses Bantsi said the club  struggled for funds in the previous season hence the sponsorship comes as motivation ahead of the new season that starts on Saturday. 'It is an opportunity that does not come often. We have been struggling for a technical sponsor for some time now. Last season we missed out on the top eight by a whisker. This season, I assure you that we will perform well because this (sponsorship) is what we have been yearning for. This will motivate the players to work extra harder and perform better on the field,' he said.

STRIKR general manager, Saad Mohyuddin said there are impressed with setup at Miscellaneous hence decided to lend a hand. He said the team's performances on the field motivated the brand to associate with the club. 'The STRIKR brand is all about quality. We were impressed with the team's performance in the last season despite their challenges. The value of the sponsorship is P120, 000, and for the first season it will be P80, 000 and P40, 000 for the next season,' he said. The Botswana Football Association (BFA) regional coordinator, Setete Phuthego advised the club to make full use of the deal and also secure more funds in the future.

'It is with delight that we witness this assistance in the form of a sponsorship from STRIKR. It is important that we protect our relationship with sponsors. How you meet your end of the bargain well will determine if the relationship will increase in both size and duration,' he said. While Botswana Premier League acting chief executive officer, Joseph Moakofi appealed with the private sector to land a helping hand to the financially crippled teams. 'We would like to see more companies coming on board to help our teams since they are struggling financially. This should come as motivation to companies to give back to their communities,' he said.

The new home kit has the team's traditional red colour with a touch of white, while the away is green with white being the alternative kit. The team is expected to don their new kit in their league opener against BDF XI at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Sunday.
