A Letter To Ndaba Gaolathe; Please Be Honourable!!!!

It clear there is no longer room for quiet thinking and contemplation on your side. Staying calm and collected has become a thing of the past on your side. This alone becomes evident through your militant approach towards your fellow comrades in Mangole and Modubule.

With all circumstances on your side, noting that neither bullets nor other savageries can arrest words that have already been aired in relation to your leadership style, let I remind you to be honourable as none seem to remind you of such.

When we all set out on the pilgrimage of change, the pilgrimage that gave birth to the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) there was one target, one target alone, to remain committed to the call of the people.

This was guided by fresh memories of missteps that took place at the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) when witch =hunting and jerk of all trades had their way. This was a moment of trial, a moment we shall never forget for it is part of our past, part of a pilgrimage we all embraced.

Who does not remember the false claims that had been llevelled against our brother and leader in Gomolemo Motswaledi? The haunt of marauders?Who does not know the hideous faces of those who plotted his suspension from a party he held dear?

Who does not know that it was a battle state for the soul and future of the BDP? Well I know, for the memory of all that transpired still remains as part of a past life, a life I wish never to forget, for it is a learning curve of life. This is a curve I hope and believe yourself still hold dear perhaps in some quarters of memory.

When our dear brother and leader, Motswaledi passed on, we all were left with a big void. We all were afraid of the vastness: HOW CAN WE FARE WELL IN THE WILDERNESS WITHOUT HIM? His absence turned us all into nomads at heart. Fear was created in our minds, it built a fortress of hatred in us towards the BDP leadership. To date a whole nation remains at gun point in the dungeon of stupor as events unvail.

Already it has took a rock of time for your leadership to come out in the open and share its findings about Gomolemo’s death. Ceratinly by now you are fully aware of the content in that report, content which at one point of time almost literally sent me to the confines of Sabrana hospital.

The cry by the masses to have the report, let alone a pic on its content, it is not by any form a mark or pretence nor laughter at our dear brother and leader’s fate. It is a true sign of care, remembrance and respect for his legacy.

You see there is this character which the Umbrella for Democratic Change has and continues to portray Gomolemo as. This character is one who care less about human integrity and the fate of his country.

Look both you and I can describe Gomolemo in a thousand words till the end of time like none, so now I wonder why you continue to allow a two-paged document to spit on the legacy of our brother and leader, why? What has become even hurtful is for people who wished him all forms of failures to demand for his death report. For them I still wonder whether the early Christmas that came on their side following Gomolemo’s death will go forever unchallenged or not. For you, your part, I am at shock at the level of which you continue to allow for Gomolemo’s legacy to go down the drain.

Gomolemo Motswaledi, the Motswaledi I knew had his own fouls, he had his own way of encouraging disobedience of procedure and even the law. He had his own way of venting his emotions and seeking comfort. The Motswaledi I knew believed in the power of the people, he believed and worshipped truth.

The Gomolemo Motswaledi I knew desired nothing but a prolonged peace for his people and country.  The Gomolemo I knew of was a very honourable man. He was a man willing and able to lead the BMD to greater heights and or perhaps governance. This is the true Gomolemo Motswaledi.

I conclude by requesting you to live to the standards which that movement lives. I conclude by requesting you to guard Gomolemo’s legacy with truth, honesty, dignity and transparency, I conclude by requesting you to be honourable.
