The sound took away from their performances that was so unbearable due to the loud squeaks that could hurt one’s ear.
The poor sound system also made the music inaudible, as most of the tracks were even hard to recognise. As if that was not enough the poor contestants struggled to earn themselves a fan base from the audience who were already exhausted from waiting for long hours before the event started. The event that was supposed to start at 9am had unfortunately got underway at around 12.30pm.
The majority of the audience had come earlier just so that they do not miss out on any act. However, that was not the case as the stage set up and other preparations were just being made at the event’s start time.
The DJ competition started off with Godfrey Itheetseng whose stage name is DJ Bond from Gaborone. His act seemed to have not had any impact amongst the audience as they coldly stared at him till he finished his act. However, Kabelo Motlhankana also known as DJ King from Serowe seemed to stir the crowd with flicker of a spark as some of them tried a few moves while some could not stop screaming praises at him. Even though the crowd seemed not to relate to music by Lancilot Seete, better known as DJ Mlanzo, his enthusiasm and energetic performance won him some fans, who could not stop laughing at his unique performance.
The young DJ’s unique attire and dance moves won him support from the audience.
Flipping his amazingly long tie over his shoulder earned him a couple more applauses as he scratched the discs.
However, DJ King was the one to walk away with the title and prize money of a whooping P10,000. The second position went to DJ Bond, who walked away with P9,000 while DJ Ale, who won over a number of fans, got the third position and took home P8,000.
The DJs, who won the remaining spots in chronological order included Seane Modingwane from Ommaweneng also know as DJ Skizzo, Oarabile Kethaetswe aka DJ Hank from Gantsi, Modiredi Kanyeto famed as DJ Mod from Maun, Abel Odirile aka DJ Pause also from Maun, and DJ Mlanzo in the last position.
