Amos on the cusp of Diamond League glory

If he wins, Amos will pocket a cool $50,000 (approximately P500,000).

Amos runs at 20:13, and the 800m-runner would look to win his fourth Diamond League trophy in the last five seasons.

The lanky Marobela star has been in sizzling form this season, running a jaw dropping 1:41:89 in Monaco in July.  The time was the world’s lead and sixth fastest all-time in the 800m race.  It was the first time a runner has clocked sub 1:42 since the 2012 Olympic Games, where Amos won Botswana’s first ever Olympic medal.

In Zurich, Amos is the favourite ahead of Kenyan, Ferguson Cheruiyot, and two-time Diamond League winner, Emmanuel Korir.  Amos has made the Diamond League trophy his own, after a hat trick of titles, and is now gunning for a fourth.

In a recent interview, Amos said he was feeling good ahead of the final.

'I feel very strong, healthier than all the years. So the aim is keep it consistent until the World Championships,' Amos told Mmegi Sport.
