Rising Kwasa star launches album

She will share the stage with trending South African Kokota Piano hit makers Kaygee Daking and Bizizi.

The 33-year-old Sefhare born’s six track album was released on August 21. She told Arts & Culture in an interview that although the album is just a week old, it has shown early signs of success.

Tshepo G, real name Tshepo Gaesenkwe said the offering is her second album, after releasing an Afro Pop album titled Magatwe in 2016.  “It’s my second album, but my first after switching to House Kwasa. The album has six tracks, which include songs such as O bitsa Mang, Dichachacha, Semangmang, Abednico and Phusha Skorokoro.

It was released just last week but it is showing signs of doing well,” she said. Other artists who will perform at the launch include Culture Spears, Franco and Afro Musica, Trade Mark, Mlesho, Radipitse, Rocking Stars, Tyte, Ponka and The Animals. Dj Pops and Dj Black Stars will do their thing on the decks.

The energetic dancer, who has been part of Kwasa Kwasa legend Frank Lesokwane’s band, Afro Musica, explained that although she does her solo music, she continues to be a member of the group.

The songbird said she was groomed and mentored by the multi-talented Frank Lesokwane also known as Franco in the music circles in order to release music solo. 

“I joined Afro Musica in 2007 from a group called G-Storm. But Franco saw something in me and decided that I should release music as a solo artist. He helped release both albums and I am grateful to him. We will give our fans what they deserve,” she said.

The talented singer, who doubles as backup singer for Franco stated that she has outdone her herself with this album and expects it to propel her name to another level.

Tickets for the launch sell at P100 standard while VIP is P150.
