Chiefs have lost an investor due to internal squabbles

The club’s crisis hit a new low this week when they lost their investor, Jamali, at the time when they were still battling to keep some of their key players.

Club spokesperson, Clifford Mogomotsi yesterday admitted they are facing challenges and said they have now regressed with the latest developments. “We have lost investors. Football is in a mess and nobody wants to associate with it.

This issue of power struggle at the club has also played a part in this whole thing. We are now back to where we were in 2003,” he said.

Mogomotsi said all the pressing issues will be on the agenda as the club seeks to find a solution. He also said there is a likelihood of elections with the current situation the club finds itself in.

Chiefs have been hit by internal squabbles over which committee is eligible to run the club.

Two groups, one led by Ramocha Tsieng and Kitso Maswena and the other led by Ernest Molome and Raymond Tsheko are both recognised by the Registrar of Societies after both filed annual returns.

The issue emanated from the club’s intention to transform into a trust as the local game seeks to move into professionalism.

The faction led by Ramocha feels the resolutions agreed at the 2012/2013 meeting have not been implemented. Amongst the resolutions was that the society be dissolved to allow for the formations of a trust.

They feel that since the society has not been dissolved, the club legally should be operating as a society until new resolutions.

The registrar advised both camps to sort their own issues and the matter recently took another twist when the Ramocha-led group requested the Botswana Football association (BFA) to deposit the prize money for the club in what they say is the account belonging to the society.

With both camps having reached a stalemate on the matter, the general membership will tomorrow be expected to give direction on the matter.
