Sechaba lost 2-0 against Police XI in the BTC Premiership game played yesterday at the National Stadium yesterday.

A goal in each half from debutant, Ogomoditse Sitang and substitute Mpho Kgomo put more misery into Toronto’s house.

Notwane looked the better side in the first minutes of the encounter but failed to connect well in the final third. The team had a goal disallowed in the 20th minute as the referee called for an offside.  Four minutes later, Eliphas Nyambi broke with pace but was denied by the goalkeeper for a corner.

The Jungle Kings missed yet another opportunity with Hendrick Moyo shooting into the goalkeeper’s hands from inside the penalty area in the 27th minute. Police XI eventually broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute. Betsho Pius used his physical strength to beat Kereng Mpetang on the ball and set up Sitang who slotted into the net.

Five minutes to the half-time break, Chicco Molefe forced a cheeky save on Thomas Manyelela from a tight angle. The Jungle Kings took a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Jungle Kings picked up where they left off but Moyo missed a couple of chances.  Kgomo doubled Police XI’s lead with a splendid chip over the goalkeeper. Moments later,  Moyo beat his marker inside the box but put his effort over the bar.

Notwane could have pulled one back in the 72nd minute but with only the goalkeeper to beat, Lungisanyi Fanyana’s shot was saved.

“It was always going to be difficult starting the league on negative points but there is nothing we can do. We need to accept the decisions taken by the superiors and move forward and make sure that we avoid relegation at the end of the season,” Notwane’s interim coach, Israel Molao said after the game.

His  Police XI counterpart Mike Sithole was not satisfied with his troops despite getting maximum points on the day. “I am not too much impressed with the finishing. We were poor in our finishing. We could have scored more goals. If we play a team that is much more organised they could punish us. It is the first game of the season, we are still working on where we are lacking,” he said.
