Dubbed the Jive Edition because of its diversion from the usual live band performances, the Mascom Live Session also featured DJs Robbie Rob, Mr O and Boogie Sid.

While the show did not attract a large crowd, as the Mascom Live Sessions commonly do, it did not disappoint in terms of the entertainment as revellers were eating out of the palm of the veteran performer’s hands. The show looked destined to be a dull event looking at the low attendance, but the artists made sure it did not turn out that way.

The organisers of the show had promised fun and entertainment, and the show delivered on that.

The event’s momentum took off slowly, with revellers sitting back and enjoying their drinks while listening to the House music  as Robbie Rob’s turned the decks.

The show started to pick pace when Mr O took over from Robbie Rob and played old school Kwaito tunes. It was at that point that revellers moved closer to the stage and began dancing.

Mr O took the tempo to the next level. He played both local and South African Kwaito songs such as TKZee’s Shibobo. His set warmed up the stage nicely for Thebe, who was making his debut at the Mascom Live Sessions.

Thebe, who was the headline act, was in his element when he jumped on to the stage at about 11pm and the fans seemed to enjoy every moment of it. Just like the crazy antics he performed in his music videos, Thebe performed to his heart’s content. The Lenyora hitmaker showed he still has the moves as he danced along.

He got love from the crowd as they sang along to every song he performed. He performed more hits in Ungawa Kum and the popular Monate Mpolaye, in which DJ Sumbody featured him.

After Thebe’s performance, Boogie Sid was next on stage to close the show.
