The State alleges that Alidy Alidy, 58, on or about February 21, 2012, then based in Gaborone as a police officer, received a bribe of P3,000 from a certain Mr. Thakotona to destroy a docket.

Alidy’s attorney, Kgololesego Segabo and the prosecutor told the court that the defence and prosecution were still waiting for the record of proceedings from the magistrate’s court to be transcribed.

After the brief status hearing, Justice Bengbame Sechele told the prosecution that the officer who is supposed to transcribe the record of proceedings is based in Gaborone.

Sechele then set November 6 for another status hearing with the expectation that by then, the record of proceedings would be available in order for the case to move forward.

The accused, who resides in Mahalapye, is currently on conditional bail.
