The players were released from the club’s ongoing pre-season training to attend the weeklong trials with the South African side.

The Ostriches’ attacking partners had an astonishing campaign in the past season, helping their side to a first ever Mascom Top 8 title with a goal apiece against Township Rollers in the final.

Their contribution to the Ostriches’ remarkable campaign did not go unnoticed, earning both a call-up to the national team. They played a starring role in the Zebras run to the COSAFA Cup final in Namibia recently with Makgantai voted player of the tournament.

‘Major 1’, as Makgantai is affectionately known, was also voted man of the match in the final.

The Ostriches spokesperson, Tebatso Hule confirmed the developments.

“Baroka has shown interest in Sesinyi and Makgantai and has called them for trials. We have released them to attend the trials and we wish them well. They will be there from this week,” he said.

He said it was a welcome inconvenience to their team. He said one of their mission is to see their players grow as professionals and they will be supportive in that regard.

“In this instance, we place the interests of our players ahead of those of the team. “If these guys are successful in their trials, we will obviously need to re-look at our requirements for the next season,” he said.
