Makgadikgadi moonlight adventure attracts 30 riders

Muddy Face Events is co-owned by Lola Berrie and popular rider, Ross Branch. Berrie said the event will start when the moon is at its peak position at about 8pm.
She said the Makgadikgadi moonlight adventure is an event with a twist where riders are expected to ride motorcycles on the pans and on a pre-marked route under the full moon.
Berrie indicated that registration will take place on July 16 at Gweta Lodge and so far three female riders have registered to participate in the adventure.
“It is going to be an exciting and unique adventure which will be open to riders of dirt bikes, quads, adventure bikes and side-by-side,” she said. “There are three loops all marked out with glow sticks and LED floodlights at marshal points.
An adult will accompany a junior who will be participating in the 5km loop. A novice loop is 15km long and more adventurous loop is 30km long,” she said. She said after registration all the riders are expected to follow an orange day-glow marked route and all vehicles will follow a green day glow marked route.
She further said riders will be able to participate in an off-road adventure at midday, followed by fun flat-track for junior and seniors.
“At sunset there is a freestyle motocross show by Nick De Wit and his team, which promises to be a breathtaking affair. For more rider fun, there is a moonrise skills test, which is a series of technical enduro-cross test under floodlight,” she said.
She said they expect spectators from across the country to see what riders do in an endurance race. She added that there will be quads for hire at the event.
For his part, Branch expressed gratitude towards their sponsors, Naledi Motors, Rescue One and Gweta Lodge. “This is our first edition of the adventure and it seems that the event has taken off with a blast. The response from the local and international communities has been great,” he said.
