Bus driver dies in freak accident

The Zimbabwean man was driving the Gaborone-bound bus coming from Orapa when he met his fate.
According to the police report, the bus made a burst-like sound along the way before reaching Palapye.
While some customers disembarked the bus at the rank, the driver decided to investigate what had caused the burst-like sound. He went under the vehicle to inspect the fault only to find a tyre had burst.
Due to its weight the bus could not sustain balance and fell on him, crushing his head.
The driver, who had lost a lot of blood at the scene, was rushed to Palapye Primary Hospital where the doctors certified him dead upon arrival.
The deceased’s body is at the hospital morgue awaiting postmortem, senior superintendent Paul Okentsang confirmed.
“It’s a freak death incident that has shocked people. It’s a fresh matter. Our investigation is still at initial stages,” the officer said.
