The post fell vacant last week when substantive CEO, Thabo Ntshinogang was shifted to the BFA.

The Premier League started last week, without a substantive CEO, following the decision to remove Ntshinogang. The BFA has indicated the post would be advertised.

But in the interim, Setete has been mentioned as one of the possible candidates to occupy the office.

Setete has served as BPL executive secretary in the past, which is the reason why he is seen as the right fit.  Another option is new BFA general manager-football operations, Monnakgotla Mojaki. Mojaki, a former journalist, recently joined the mother body, but could find himself serving in the BPL office, on an interim basis.

Raymond Tsheko, a member of the Premier League Management committee, was also mentioned as a possible candidate.  With BFA elections due next year, the leadership would want a candidate who suits its political profile, to occupy the Premier League office.

The BPL wields a lot of influence during voting and with early jostling ahead of the elections, appointments are carefully scrutinised.

BFA CEO, Mfolo Mfolo, said the national executive committee would make recommendations on the candidate, without giving timeframes.
