Simmy who has carved out a distinctive position in the music industry with four South African Music Awards (Samas) nominations this year will be alongside DJ Bunny and DJ Burst.

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Bahama Lounge entertainment manager, Zaine Aftermath said Simmy was one of the hottest female vocalists in SA with a powerful brand no wonder he decided to invite her.

“People should go there because we provide quality entertainment at all times and we take security of our clientele seriously,” he said.  For a venue that has been hosting top artists weekend after weekend, Zaine Aftermath said the secret behind hosting the events is to put Bahama on top of the hierarchy of the best Lounges in the country.

“The experience, the ambience and the set up allow people to keep coming back. All we needed to do was expose people to the place. Now it has become the hottest place in town,” he highlighted.

He said as the entertainment manager and head of Marketing so far bringing all the artists to the lounge has worked for them.

Zaine Aftermath revealed that the upcoming event headlined by Simmy would be on a Sunday because of the clientele that he is trying to attract. “There has been a growth of Sunday events in recent years,” he said.

Simmy, whose real name is Simphiwe Nhlangulela, 25, is expected to perform more songs from her album Tugela Ferry. The album’s title is inspired by her hometown of Tugela Ferry in Msinga, KZN. She burst into the music industry through the guidance of Sun El Musician.

Her hard-hitting songs touch on modern issues and more personal narratives speak to life and love in the digital age. Having grown up in a musical household, her songs on Tugela Fairy are inspired by the legendary sounds of Dolly Parton, Platform One, Brenda Fassie, Soul Brothers and Izingane Zoma.
