However, Motswako’s first lady, Fifi Cooper, is one of the few Femcees that have sensationally etched their names with an indelible ink on the rap world map.  It was only last year when she shot skyward with her debut album 20FIFI, which has received massive airplay in Southern Africa.

The 25-year-old red-hot songstress from from Mafikeng was in town this past weekend and readily shared how she has managed to break the barriers and stand her ground as a woman in a male dominated industry.

The God-fearing Femcee admitted that prior her fame, she faced many challenges noting that she has been rapping for nine years, but only got recognised last year. “Not every door has a key; it’s all about patience and waiting for the right time, you do not have to settle for less,” she cooed lyrically. Now as she stands shoulder to shoulder,  Fifi confidently stated that she fears no one except her Maker.

“No one in the rap world intimidates me. I am not scared of their presence as I am more focused on growing my craft. “I do not feel intimidated coz I am a woman.

The only competition is my family, Ambitiouz Entertainment. I also believe that male and female rappers should be categorised as one without gender differences,” she added. Just like many, she had to move from her hometown of Mafikeng to Johannesburg for greener pastures where she got signed by Ambitiouz Entertainment which has the likes of Mtee, Miss Pru and A-Reece. “I have always believed in my dream.

My rap craft means a lot to me and I have always believed that sex does not sell or make you get to the top. “I guess people like me coz I am authentic unlike other female rappers who go to the extreme of wearing revealing bikinis on stage,” said the Kisses Femcee. t about you,” she said.

Fifi expressed her aversion to female rappers who she said were in the habit of wearing revealing clothes saying instead, it lowered their appeal. Though not mentioning names, it is a fact that some female rappers like Nikki Minaj, Sasa Klaas and Bouncy like appearing in skimpy gear.
