Mmegi Sport is reliably informed that Notwane has argued that only the general assembly has the powers to suspend a club and therefore the BFA National Executive Committee’s move was null and void.

Notwane was slapped with a two year suspension, but will only serve one after the other year was set aside.

Club chairperson, Phillip Tiroyamodimo refused to discuss the matter when contacted for comment, save to say that they had received BFA’s suspension letter and they would respond before the end of the week.

“We have received their letter and we will issue a press statement on the matter before Friday. The general assembly is the only one that can suspend us. I would ask you to wait for the release,” he said.

Lekgwabe-based Elpots have taken Notwane’s space in the First Division South league.

Sechaba were suspended for taking a football matter to court and will resume in the First Division at the start of the 2017/2018 season. First Division South league secretary, Sidney Magagane said Elpots side will take Notwane’s place.

At the end of next season, instead of three teams relegating, two will be demoted to leave space for the returning Notwane.

But there might be another twist before the suspension kicks-in as Notwane are reportedly ready to challenge the BFA further.
