A group of young Judokas (7-12 years of age) from registered judo clubs in Botswana, coached by Sensei Willie Paulsen, travelled to South Africa and did extremely well.
“They train twice a week, and more when close to competitions by a committed, enthusiastic and qualified judo coach, Willie Paulsen. The children did not represent Botswana as a country. The parents of these judokas funded their trip to South Africa, and are happy to support them and see them compete at international levels,” team manager, Frida Brahmbhatt-Deurwaarder said.
“It gives the young judokas exposure and experience at an early stage. In future this team and many more children should be expected to participate in judo competitions across the globe. Coach Paulsen is passionate about the sport, and extremely proud of his young team. He wants to continue coaching, and is looking at judo for all children,” said Brahmbhatt-Deurwaarder.
