Legopelo demands release from Highlanders

“There is no market at First Division. I want my graph to go up”, he said. Legopelo said he respects the fact that he still has a running contract with Highlanders but cannot go back to the lower division.

His contract with the team is left with almost a season. The contract has been running from August 2015 and is expected to end in May next year.

He said several teams are already interested in his services and will be glad if BR Highlanders listen to the offers. He said his salary at Highlanders has been inconsistent and feels probably a move to another Premier League side will make things better.

He said Mascom Top 8 champions, Orapa United have been leading the chase for his signature with Mochudi Centre Chiefs also said to be interested in him.

BR Highlanders official, Witness Phuthego said they are aware that there are teams such as Orapa who are interested in their players including Legopelo. He said they are waiting for Orapa to follow due process as they are yet to formally write to them enquiring about the player.  He said though they do not want to lose any player, they have no intentions of keeping players who may get better offers elsewhere.

When reached for comment, Legopelo’s agent, Monty Gagomokgwa confirmed that he has been engaged by the player to find him greener pastures.

Gagomokgwa said Legopelo has complained about unreliable salary at BR Highlanders and has expressed a desire to leave the team. He said they are expecting Orapa United to write to BR Highlanders this week.

Opara United chairman, Kennekae Nkape has since confirmed that the team is interested in Legopelo.

“But it is up to the technical team to assess the player and make a proper recommendation to the management. This is after all the process to contact BR Highlanders has been followed. We have to write to his team first but personally I know he is a good player,” he said.
