Sithole has been linked with a move to the mining town soon after the transfer window opened last month after his contract with Chiefs came to an end.

He is expected to sign a two-year deal, ending his relationship with Chiefs where he won the league in 2015. “What I cannot deny is that we are talking to him. The talks are at an advanced stage and once we finalise everything we will announce it,” club chairperson, Njabulo Gilika told Mmegi Sport yesterday. Sithole will take over from Philani Mabhena who led the team to a seventh place finish last season. Mabhena took over from Boyo Radipotsane who was sacked in the middle of the season.

Gilika said Mabhena will remain part of the team next season despite the arrival of Sithole.

“He will still be in our structures. As you know the issues of club licensing require that clubs set up development structures, so he will assist in that regard. He will also be working with Sithole once we conclude everything,” he said.

Sithole is expected to bring the much-needed experience as Galaxy seek to challenge for honours this coming season.

He is among the few decorated coaches in the league, having won the league title twice. He is the first coach to win the Mascom Top 8 during his short stint with Township Rollers. His departure at Chiefs leaves the Kgatleng giants with huge work ahead of the new season, having also lost some key players.

Chiefs have lost midfielders, Tendai Nyumasi and Lemponye Tshireletso to Orapa United and Rollers respectively.

They are also on the verge of losing attacking midfielder, Ayanda Molefe who is said to be on his way to Galaxy.
