The renewed relationship between the two sees Thebe, who has been at the helm of the university overseeing its branding initiatives retain her role, however, as an independent consultant.

The statement released on Saturday by both parties put to rest the court case. However, they were not at liberty to reveal the nitty-grities of their just-announced relationship.

The two parties have agreed that, “all outstanding matters between them” are “satisfactorily and amicably resolved”.

According to the Limkokwing statement, Thebe has for some time wanted to develop her career in a new direction and in view of the amicable resolution of all matters, the university has been pleased to facilitate this aspiration by releasing her from the aforementioned position, but on the basis that they retain her services in a new capacity.

“Accordingly, the university is pleased to announce that Thebe has been appointed as the university’s independent public relations consultant with immediate effect,” stated Limkokwing.

Limkokwing stated that Thebe has been associated with the university for over 10 years and has made a significant contribution to its growth and development in Botswana during this period.

“She leaves with the university’s best wishes for the future. Thebe would like to place on record her sincere thanks to the university for the invaluable opportunity to work with them and to wish the university every success for the future both in Botswana and internationally.  Both parties are looking forward to continuing their successful and long standing professional partnership in the new ongoing relationship”.

For her part Thebe applauded Limkokwing University for following due process fairly when handling her case, which demonstrated impressive corporate governance and fairness on how internal issues are handled based on policies upon all employees regardless of their designation.

“My reputation as a Public Relations Practitioner is sorely based on my work ethics and professionalism, and when these two qualities are questioned it is imperative for an employer to strictly look into it with the emphasis of protecting their brand, and with that said, I am glad that justice has finally prevailed to complement that. What I stated from the onset that as a brand custodian my principles and ethics would not have allowed me to conduct myself in such a manner, clearing me from the alleged misconduct,” she said.

“After 10 years of an exciting and memorable stint with Limkokwing University of Creative Technology where my commitment, hard work and dedication contributed towards the development and positioning of the university as one of the number one leaders in tertiary education in Botswana, I am pleased to have been appointed as the university’s PR Consultant and look forward to an ongoing positive relationship with the university in my capacity as an independent consultant,” Thebe stated.
