Charma Gal dancers perish

The Monitor can confirm that two others were referred to Hukuntsi Hospital whilst three were taken to Princess Marina Referral Hospital in Gaborone.

The seven-seater mini-bus that the crew was travelling in allegedly had a tyre burst causing it to rear off the road.

Assistant Station Commander at Kang Police Station, Kabelano Tebogo also confirmed the accident to this publication.

In a telephone interview, Tebogo said, “we received the report around nine this morning (Sunday). But at this moment I cannot confirm exactly the time the accident occurred.”

Kang police also confirmed that five people had died in the accident that happened about 70 km from Kang.

“The combi was heading towards the Gaborone direction along the A2 road. Investigations as to what caused the accident are still ongoing, the matter is still new, some of the police officers are still at the scene,” said Tebogo. Efforts to reach the Sekuta sa ga Charma gal hitmaker were futile at the  time of going to press.

But sources have revealed that the performer was not with the crew when the accident happened.

“She was not in the car with them. She was using a different car and they were driving just ahead of them,” said a source, further adding that Charma Gal was still in Kang at the clinic where the bodies of the deceased were.
