The beneficiaries included orphans, the underprivileged and the victims of a fire tragedy in G-West. Speaking during the blanket donation, the Gaborone City Council (GCC) welfare official Boikhutso Manyeula said they were grateful for the gifts because GCC cannot reach out to everyone in need.

“There is a Setswana saying that kgetsi ya tsie e kgonwa ke go tshwaraganelwa, therefore Trade World is showing us that the spirit of togetherness is necessary,” she said. Manyeula said at GCC there is what they call stakeholder collaboration and they need business entities to help where they can. “We can’t do everything on our own that’s why we need each other,” she said.

One of the beneficiaries Ratlhage Ratlhage thanked God for the auspicious occasion that would benefit her in the long run. “Just like the Bible says, blessed is the hand that gives and we are accepting God’s will.

We thank everyone involved in arranging this donation from Trade World,” she said.

The beneficiaries were identified by social workers from various areas in Gaborone looking at their needs. Today Trade World will donate more blankets for people living with disabilities from Bontleng at Civic Centre.

There are 3,000 blankets to be donated altogether in different areas around the country.
