Confusion over BNSC board nominations

After receiving two names for consideration, the BNSC has since requested for a further two from the National Sport Associations (NSA).
BNSC chief executive officer, Falcon Sedimo wrote to the NSAs this week requesting that the submission should be done before end of business on Friday 13 September, 2019.
“This is above the two submissions that were previously made and forwarded to the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development for final determination,” reads the letter.
The NSAs had nominated Dr Khaulani Fichani and Tshepho Bathai as their board representatives.
The two have questioned the rationale behind requesting for further names.
Fichani told Mmegi Sport that they have not been informed about the latest developments. “It is not up to the minister to decide who gets into the board. We were not nominated by NSAs. All we are waiting for is to receive confirmation from BNSC to serve in the board,” he said.
Fichani said it is surprising that two other names are needed, which contradicts the BNSC Act. He said in the past, such a suggestion was made to the ministry, but it was not successful. Fichani said the BNSC should explain to the NSAs what was happening.
Bathai wondered which process was going to be used to nominate the extra two people. “There is nowhere in the Act where it states that NSAs can nominate four representatives. It is also impossible to amend the BNSC Act at the moment because Parliament has been dissolved,” he said.
