Tse Nala last got the better of Moyagoleele with a marginal 2-1 win in 2012. Coach, Oitsile Koolese confirmed they did everything according to the script. He said they had to respect their opponents’ attacking prowess. “They brought five strikers and we played well to keep them far from our goals.

We prepared to work with a few chances and we created more than we have planned. I am happy with the result against a strong side,” he said. Moyagoleele oozed confidence from the first whistle. They settled quickly and dominated possession. They got a shock wakeup call in the fourth minute when the quiet Miscellaneous stuck a dagger.

Against the run of play, Hamadzashe Moyo flicked a long ball into the path of his striking partner, Molaodi Thalefang inside the box. Thalefang controlled and emphatically drilled into the roof of the net.

Moyagoleele could have responded in the eighth minute only for Tapiwa Sepatela to miscue an effort in the box. The ball fell for Keaketswe Moloi, whose shot from the penalty area was blocked.

As the match progressed, the visitors recovered from the early goal and regained rhythm. They built up play from the back with neat interchanges.

Miscellaneous defence, however, repelled well. They forced strikers, Joel Mogorosi and Moloi to collect deep. Obonwe Maome saw his 21st minute chip kiss the crossbar when he caught his opponents goalkeeper off the line. Moments later, Mogorosi was left fuming at the assistant referee who ruled his goal for an offside.

United’s first half woes were summed up by a Kennedy Amutenya free kick that sailed inches wide. The game ensued in a similar fashion in the second stanza. United controlled terms but Miscellaneous were resolute. They brought in Thatayaone Kgamanyane for Sepatela to improve creativity upfront. Kgamanyane saw his 55th minute header effort from the 16-yards collected by a well-positioned Kagiso Moganetsi.

Miscellaneous were unlucky on the hour mark. Thalefang was denied a brace by the upright. The lanky striker had climbed higher and clinically redirected Onalenna Molelekwa’s corner with a sure header. United wasted a series of half chances in the box. Their persistence was rewarded with a penalty in the 71st minute. Moganetsi was penalised for a late tackle on Tshepo Maikano who had escaped his marker and driven into the box.

Amutenya stepped up and cooly slotted into the bottom left corner. United injected pace after the goal to chase a win. They saw the win blow up in the additional time when Moganetsi brilliantly denied unmarked Moloi from a 16-yards range.

United’s coach, Khalid Niyonzima thought they deserved better after dictating the better of the match. “We gave them confidence with an early goal. We came back stronger, created chances and wasted. We could have done better,” he said.
