BDP activist charged with stealing by public servant

In the first count, the state alleges that Kago Phofuetsile, 43, who was vanquished by Ignatius Moswaane in the last BDP primary elections, stole P56,000 being government property on March 11, 2011 when he was employed by the National AIDS Coordinating Agency (NACA) as a District Grants Officer.

The state alleges that the former NACA officer, who is now unemployed, stole P170,000 and P400,000 on June 6, 2011 and June 7, 2011 in the second and third counts respectively.

The state alleges that Phofuetsile cumulatively stole P626,000.

Prosecutor Archie Makgoa told the court that the state was not opposed to the accused being granted bail.

Chief Magistrate Faith Dlamini-Ngandu granted the accused bail on condition that he appears in court as and when required to do so, does not interfere with witnesses, does not commit any further offences and binds himself with P5,000.

Phofuetsile will appear in court for mention on November 11, 2019.
